Stage 3 results and next steps

The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) undertook further environmental assessments in Woodville North, Athol Park and Pennington between June and September 2020.

Seasonal testing of soil vapour was undertaken across the area to inform the health risk assessment for vapour potentially entering residential indoor air. Previous indoor air testing has shown that some properties near the former Finsbury Munitions Factory confirmed small amounts of trichloroethene (TCE) were present.

Stage 3 results did not identify any new residential properties requiring indoor air assessment.

At the conclusion of all assessment work in this area, it is likely that a groundwater prohibition area will be proposed.

A copy of the report from the Stage 3 work is available from the document library.
