Sellicks Beach Air Quality Monitoring

In response to concern about dust, the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is initiating an Air Quality Monitoring Campaign in the Sellicks Beach area to better understand the source of the dust impacts on the existing community.
When selecting a monitoring location, the preference is for an open area, avoiding restrictions on airflow such as sites adjacent to buildings, trees, walls, other nearby structures. Ideally monitoring sites should also avoid other interferences, including from exposed areas such as farmed fields. The location requires access to a reliable electricity supply.
Based on the EPA’s assessment, a monitoring location has been identified as the open land parcel on the right-hand side of the corner of Lurline Blvd and Sellicks Beach Rd, this is owned and maintained by the City of Onkaparinga.
This monitoring campaign is planned to commence in November 2025 for a period of 12 months, and once the monitoring equipment is installed, live data will be available to be viewed 24/7 on the EPA website.
