Roles and responsibilities

MAB

MAB is responsible for ensuring the milestones set out in the Agreement are satisfied. MAB is also responsible for site management. MAB is managing the civil works at the site. MAB will also manage construction of the development, which is expected to commence towards the end of 2026 following completion of the site contamination audit.

Site contamination auditor

Auditors are expert individuals accredited by the EPA who are subject to specific legislative obligations and guideline requirements. Auditors independently review the assessment and remediation carried out by others and provide their written opinions and determinations, including the preparation of interim audit advice and a site contamination audit report.

City of Charles Sturt

Local environmental nuisance issues are regulated by local councils under the Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016. The City of Charles Sturt is responsible for regulating environmental nuisance issues, including dust and odour, related to the current civil works and future construction works at the site. EPA

The EPA administers the Environment Protection Act 1993 and Environment Protection Regulations 2023. The Agreement is a regulatory tool under the Environment Protection Act 1993 which gives a framework for the remediation activities that were undertaken at the gasworks site.

The EPA is also responsible for the administration of the audit system.
