The EPA provides scientific assessment and regulatory advice to DEM to assist its regulation of the site and to ensure that where possible the EPA’s regulatory requirements are incorporated.

Hanson Construction Materials Pty Ltd (Hanson) must achieve the compliance objectives and criteria of its mine operations plan (MOP), which is regulated by DEM under the Mining Act 1971.

Additionally, Hanson holds an EPA licence (No. 12714) and must comply with the conditions of this licence, the Environment Protection Act 1993 (EP Act) and relevant environment protection policies (EPP).

The MOP describes the operations approved to be undertaken at the quarry, and environmental objectives which must be achieved to address matters such as amenity and blasting noise. Communities are encouraged to report matters to DEM as the lead regulator or urgent environmental-related matters to the EPA's 24-hour Emergency Response Team with dates, times, exact location and photos. The interactive map on this site can also be used to record pollution events that do not require urgent EPA attendance.

Please drop a pin to make a report to the EPA, that will be used as community evidence as part of the EPA's regulation of White Rock Quarry.

To make a report, please record everything about the event including: date and time, the exact location, and other observations such as weather conditions. Where possible, photographic and video evidence can be provided and are valuable especially from different angles. You can go back and edit your own pin at a later date if you wish to add more detail.

Important: Not all pollution events are attributable to White Rock Quarry. It is important to continue to report to the EPA's Emergency Response Team on (08) 8204 2004 if attendance is required. The pin should be dropped at the site where you witnessed the incident. If you drop one in the wrong spot accidentally, please take a screenshot of the pin and send it to engage.epa@sa.gov.au and ask for it to be removed.
